Explore North Pembrokeshire’s coastline by playing in the intertidal zone, scramble, explore, swim and of course jump!
Adventure found John at an early age when he was taken all over the Northern fells and mountains in a carrier on his Dad’s back! In the following years, John joined the local Scout group in Bury, Lancashire and learnt how much fun it was spending time outside, lighting fires, climbing trees, and of course playing in the mill ponds and rivers of the local area and beyond in a kayak or canoe. When John wasn’t out adventuring, you would find him in a swimming pool training to become a National Swimmer. This thirst for adventure brought John to Pembrokeshire in 1997 where he started working in the outdoor activity industry.
Having worked in the local area for a number of outdoor centres, holding various roles from instructor to Head of Adventure for over 20 years, John decided it was time to step out on his own venture. In 2021 he set up Safety 1st Training Ltd and started offering training courses in water safety and first aid. He continues to work with outdoor centres to deliver training to their staff and offer technical advice. John is also the local representative for the National Coasteering Charter and has recently been invloved in creating the Coasteering Guide Award and is passionate about promoting safe Coasteering practice in the industry.
